AutoBahn Performance to renew Sponsorship of Dave Goodman’s 1979 Porsche 930 in the 2005 Tire Rack
One Lap of America

Article provided by David Goodman.

For the fifth year in a row we are proud to announce that AutoBahn Performance has renewed it’s prime sponsorship of the Goodman/Goodman entry in the 2005 Tire Rack One Lap of America – www.onelapofamerica.com.

This year’s eight day (April 30 - May 8, 2004) cross country endurance road rally and racetrack time trial event will cover over 3,600 miles in one week with over 200 additional track miles.

Team lead, David Goodman said of the news: “I couldn’t be happier. No one knows the setup of this car better than Autobahn Performance. For over five years now they have provided the service and suspension geometry that has led to three Vintage Foreign Class podium finishes in the last three years. That kind of commitment speaks volumes about the kind of shop Rick Hetherington runs. Just last year when a gearbox problem arose, those guys were on the phone on a Saturday afternoon troubleshooting the problem. Where else are you going find that level of support?”

This year the One Lap will start and end at the Tire Rack Facility in South Bend Indiana, and travel to the following
venues in between:

  • Indianapolis Raceway Park – Indianapolis, IN
  • BeaverRun - Beaver Creek, PA
  • Lancaster Speedway - Lancaster, NY
  • New Hampshire International Speedway - Loudon, NH
  • The Shenandoah course at Summit Point – Summit Point West Virginia
  • Virginia International Raceway – Danville, VA
  • Roebling Road – Bloomington, GA
  • Nelson Ledges – NY
  •   * The longest leg is a grueling 780 mile run from Bloomington, GA to Lancaster, NY.

    The Team

The One Lap drivers consist of car owner David Goodman and his brother Sam. 2005 will David’s fifth consecutive year driving this historic event and Sam’s first. The One Lap team however consists of an extended group of family and friends.

    The Car

The car is a beautiful, 1979 Porsche 930 that has undergone extensive work to make it track worthy, safe and dependable. The 930 was chosen for its incredible heritage and performance characteristics. It is the turbocharged version of the Porsche 911, and was the fastest production car built in 1979.

    The Goal

The Goodman/Ibarguen team has scored three podium finishes (2nd in 2002, 3rd in 2003, and 2nd again in 2004) in the Vintage Foreign class in addition to 20th overall out of 89 entries in 2002. The goal for 2005 is to finally bring home a first place in the Vintage Foreign class.
