Day 3, Monday, May 7, 2007
NWe woke to a beautifully clear and cool Utah
morning. We drove to Miller Motorsports Park, unpacked the car and
were ready to go by 9 a.m. I filled up the car with 7 gallons of
110 octane leaded fuel and ran my first session around 9:30 a.m.
After my run session we where able to lounge around a little bit
and relax, our first bit of downtime since beginning the event.
The temperature warmed up nicely to around 75 with a nice breeze
and the weather was perfect. Neil and I watched some of the other
cars run, grabbed some lunch, and then checked out the morning standings
on the way back to the car.
Unfortunately for us Matt Hubbard, Bob Murray's co-driver
had a really amazing run and beat me by three positions to capture
the 15th overall slot for this run session. As I said earlier it's
going to take a hell of a lot a work to beat these guys this year
because he just came with such an unbelievable car. The bottom line
at this point is just to drive the best that I can drive and try
not to get too far behind. Two bright spots today are that I'm running
16th overall at this point and with all that horse power they are
only beating us by a small margin.
Route 6 coming out of Utah on our way to Pueblo
provided equally spectacular views compared to last night, the mountains
and landscape were incredible. If you've never driven out west before
I highly recommend it. continue>
